Pen, paper, envelopes and stamps

Do people still write letters? On which occasions?

I've just finished one letter and one postcard. I have a special fountain pen to write on the sheets of paper, but a regular pen to write on the back of the postcards and the envelopes. I just write, whatever I've done so far, or whatever I''m about to do after finishing writing. I enjoy the exercise of trying to produce a legible handwriting, well form sentences and paragraphs, and stick to the standard letter structure, which is usually short, however I can write easily six pages of well groomed nonsense.

The fun thing is that I write to friends who I see regularly, and with one of my pen friends, who is a girl, we write each other both in Spanish and English, randomly, we may start the sentence in one language and finish it with the other. But what I enjoy the most is looking for envelopes and stamps. If you think you can find envelopes anywhere, you are right, but not the ones I like, they are a special brand, with not so common measures, and the paper is really something. And I have to go downtown to get the stamps, I buy the collectible kind one, they cost as much as the regular ones, but they are LIMITED EDITION, I have a stamp that only 4K copies have been issued, but since it is quite new, and not good at all, it won't reach a high price or raise any interest from anyone, but still, it's fun to go and buy stamps, lick them and stick them on the envelope. Curiously, I don't send season greetings letters, just whatever I feel like writing, whenever I feel like writing, to whoever I wanna send something too...

how about you?

A Life Wasted? Not at all

I don't remember the exact date when I bought my first album, in fact, cassette, it was in the mid 80's, but I remember it was Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. My dad had a Beatles compilation and since I worn it out I wanted more, so, the owner of the record shop suggested I should buy that one if I wanted the best Beatles album.

Since then I've been listening to all kinds of music and all kind of artists, and after all these years I have to say that Pearl Jam is my favourite band. Their music is so inspiring and insightful that I can relate myself to it, in any aspect, musical or lyrical. Their music has the quality to reach very deep inside onself, shrivering down my spine, shaking every nerve. And for that matter, I always was eager to get more of their music, and listen to every song as much as I can. So not only was I a Pearl Jam fan, but also a collector, specially vinyl collector, and for that reason, I could not pass buying this single, belonging to one of my favourite albums.

Being a 10C member gave me the possibility to listen to all shows they made. Life wasted was played a lot, in fact, it was one of the best song at Buenos Aires show last November, which I attended. So I grew a bigger love for this song which pushes you to set yourself to do something, go all the way through it, and don't give up, it always get better. Come back is one of many fans favs, but if you have the chance to watch the PJ20 DVD extras, you will love it. It's a pretty bad ass ballad, a love song, but not cheese, and the riffs and solos will blow your mind.

So if you haven't heard these songs, or Pearl Jam at all, these songs are a good start, if you like Pearl Jam, you should take your time to listen these two songs, you might have listened before, but now you will have another perspective, and you will learn why most fans love these songs, and if you are a Pearl Jam fan and collector, this single, Life wasted b/w Come back (live), is a must, and you know it!
